In Primis

2010 Salento Zinfandel

Cantine Baldassarre In Primis is a captivating Zinfandel from the picturesque Salento region, showcasing a deep, vibrant red hue that glistens in the glass. This 2010 vintage exhibits a luscious and full-bodied character that envelops the palate with its rich and ripe fruit flavors, reminiscent of dark berries and cherries. The wine's acidity is bright and refreshing, perfectly balancing its generous fruit intensity while enhancing its overall liveliness. With firm tannins providing a structured backbone, this Zinfandel is both bold and harmonious, culminating in a satisfying finish. Its dryness makes it incredibly versatile for food pairings, making it an excellent choice for a variety of dishes.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
