il Castillo

2013 Locorotondo White Blend

Abramo's Selection il Castillo is a charming white blend from the scenic region of Locorotondo, renowned for its exceptional terroir. This 2013 vintage proudly showcases a light-bodied character, making it an inviting choice for those seeking a refreshing pour. The acidity is bright and lively, enhancing the wine's crisp profile and making it incredibly food-friendly. With a fruit intensity that is moderate, the flavors reveal delightful notes of citrus and stone fruit, while maintaining a clean and elegant finish. The wine is bone dry, ensuring a refreshing experience that pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes, especially seafood and fresh salads. This is a wonderful expression of the fruit-forward, artisanal style synonymous with Locorotondo's winemaking heritage.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
