Grand Reserve

2013 Calistoga Zinfandel

Trader Joe's Grand Reserve Zinfandel from the 2013 vintage is a delightful expression of the Calistoga region, showcasing the bold character that Zinfandel is known for. This wine presents a full-bodied profile, perfectly balanced with a high acidity that invigorates the senses and adds a refreshing brightness. The fruit intensity is prominent, featuring luscious notes of ripe blackberries, plums, and dark cherries, harmoniously complemented by hints of spice and vanilla from its oak aging. Tannins are firm yet not overpowering, providing structure while allowing the vibrant fruit to shine through. This well-rounded Zinfandel is dry, making it an excellent choice for pairing with hearty dishes or enjoyed on its own for a truly satisfying experience.

North Coast

The North Coast AVA is a vast "super region" covering three million acres of prime land north of San Francisco. It encompasses the famous wine counties of Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino, as well as Lake, Marin and Solano. While most wines from these counties are made under one of the prestigious regional AVAs, winemakers can also blend grapes from different counties. In this way, they create wines that show off the quality of the entire region and are not limited to specific terroirs. Common varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel.
