Puglia Primitivo

Gota Nera Primitivo hails from the sun-drenched region of Puglia, Italy, and offers an inviting, expressive experience. This beautiful red wine boasts a full-bodied profile, featuring intense and robust flavors of dark fruits such as blackberries and plums. The high acidity adds a lively brightness, balancing the rich, ripe fruit intensity perfectly, and providing a refreshing lift. Firm tannins contribute to this wine's structured character, making it an excellent candidate for aging, though its pleasant balance makes it enjoyable now as well. Gota Nera Primitivo pairs wonderfully with hearty Italian dishes, such as robust pasta sauces and grilled meats, thanks to its mouthwatering combination of bold flavors and refreshing acidity. This wine truly reflects the passionate spirit and rich heritage of the Puglia winegrowing region, offering a delightful exploration of southern Italy's winemaking artistry.

Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
