Forte Canto

2005 Salento Negroamaro

Vin. Ap. S.R.L. Forte Canto, a remarkable expression of Negroamaro from the Salento region, showcases the unique character of its Italian origins. This red wine presents a deep, luscious color that hints at the richness waiting to be discovered. On the palate, it reveals a full-bodied texture, with a sturdy backbone of acidity that balances beautifully against the prominent fruit intensity. The tannins are notably firm, contributing to the wine's overall structure while allowing the vibrant notes of dark cherry, plum, and hints of spice to shine through. The wine is crafted in a dry style, making it an impeccable companion for various cuisines. This vintage from 2005 not only reflects the impeccable winemaking tradition of Salento but also invites the drinker on a delightful journey through its complex flavors.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
