F & G Vineyard

Arroyo Seco Pinot Blanc

The J. Lohr F & G Vineyard Pinot Blanc from the Arroyo Seco region offers a delightful representation of this varietal. This beautifully balanced white showcases a medium body with a refreshing acidity that dances gracefully on the palate. Its fruit intensity is both prominent and lively, hinting at notes of crisp green apple, ripe pear, and a touch of citrus zest. The wine’s dry profile makes it an exceptionally food-friendly choice, pairing well with a variety of dishes from light seafood to fresh salads. Arroyo Seco’s unique microclimate and gravelly soils contribute to the wine’s vibrant purity and nuanced complexity, making it a testament to both the skill of J. Lohr’s winemaking team and the distinctive qualities of the region.

Arroyo Seco

Lying in the middle of the Salinas Valley, the under-appreciated Arroyo Seco AVA is a beacon of cool-climate winemaking in Monterey County. Its vineyards—especially those to the east—are buffeted for much of the day by cold Pacific winds and shrouded by fog. This combines to give Arroyo Seco an extremely long growing season. Soils throughout the AVA are stony, and these stones absorb sunlight to provide additional heat to the vines. While winemakers face a challenging growing environment, the effort is worth it, as the area produces superbly balanced Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling; intriguing Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon perform well in the western part of the AVA.
