Eiswein

2009 Burgenland Pinot Noir

Hopler Eiswein is a delightful red wine crafted from exquisite Pinot Noir grapes, exhibiting a rich and radiant hue that beckons from the glass. Hailing from the renowned Burgenland region, this 2009 vintage showcases a full-bodied profile, offering a luscious mouthfeel that envelops the palate with warmth and expression. The acidity is bright and refreshing, providing a perfect counterbalance to the wine's natural sweetness, while the fruit intensity is pronounced, revealing layers of ripe red berries that dance together harmoniously. Tannins are notable but smooth, adding structure without overpowering the overall experience. This elegant wine is beautifully balanced and ultimately demonstrates the mastery of the winemaking craft in Burgenland, making it a true gem for any wine enthusiast.

Austria

Austria may not be the first country that springs to mind when you think of quality wine, but this slice of central Europe is home to crisp whites and elegant reds that are well worth seeking out. While many classic grapes are grown here, there are exceptional wines made from varieties you rarely see anywhere else, such as white Grüner Veltliner. Spicy and herbaceous, this wine combines notes of white pepper and asparagus with flint and apple. As for reds, the most planted is Zweigelt. This grape is a hybrid of two other local varietals: the spicy Blaufränkisch and light St. Laurent. It combines the best of both worlds with flavors of chocolate, black pepper and fresh raspberry.
