Apalta Carmenere

Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre Carmenere, from the renowned Apalta region in Chile, is a testament to the exceptional winegrowing conditions of this area. This red wine, with its striking deep purple hue, is a full-bodied delight that showcases a significant depth of flavor. The pronounced fruit intensity brings forth layers of dark cherry, blackberry, and ripe plum, complemented by subtle notes of black pepper and savory spices. The wine's high acidity lends a bright, lively mouthfeel, while its firm, structured tannins provide a well-rounded balance, making it a superb match for rich, hearty dishes. Crafted with meticulous care, this Gold Medal-winning wine has garnered acclaimed recognition for its impeccable quality and distinct character, affirming Apalta's status as a premier winemaking region.

Region:

Apalta

While it doesn't have the dramatic Andean scenery of other Chilean wine regions, Apalta's hot scrubby hills produce some seriously full-flavored red wines. These French-influenced Syrah and Carménère are becoming highly sought-after wines. Chile is famous for using Carménère as a single varietal, and in Apalta this lesser-known grape comes into its own. Subtle floral notes and refreshing acidity complement the typical flavors of black plum, raspberry and paprika. The Bordeaux-style blends are worth discovering, too, with classic notes of blackcurrant, mint and clove. It is easy to see why some of Chile's most famous wine producers have based themselves in Apalta.
