2024 Piekenierskloof Grenache Blanc

Tasting notes:

This Grenache Blanc offers a bouquet of pear and white flowers paired with chamomile and lemon zest. On the palate, crisp green apple and white peach are enhanced by wet stone, almond, and saline finish, making it ideal with seared scallops or Mediterranean mezze.

Region:

Piekenierskloof
Piekenierskloof

Piekenierskloof is a relatively small area at the southern end of the Olifants River region, 100 miles north of Cape Town. This winegrowing region is earning recognition for its high-elevation wines. In fact, Piekenierskloof now boasts some of South Africa's highest vineyards as winemakers continue to explore the Citrusdal Valley's mountainside terroirs. Lying at the base of the Cederberg Mountains, this fertile valley was known historically for its citrus production. But oranges and lemons are slowly giving way to hillside vineyards planted with Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinotage, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz grapes.
