2016 Central Valley Chardonnay

The 1818 Classic Chardonnay, hailing from the sun-kissed vineyards of Central Valley, is a delightful expression of this beloved varietal. This white wine presents a medium-bodied character, exuding a comforting richness that envelops the palate. The acidity is vibrantly refreshing, balancing perfectly with the wine's fruit intensity, which showcases prominent notes of ripe stone fruits and a hint of citrus. Tannins are subtle, allowing the wine's smooth texture to shine through without overwhelming the senses. While elegantly crafted, this Chardonnay is dry, making it a versatile choice for pairing with various dishes or simply enjoying on its own. The 2016 vintage has further developed its complexity, offering a fruit-friendly profile that invites you to savor every sip.

Central Valley

Away from the dramatically cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean, Central Valley is California's breadbasket, where much of the country's fruit, vegetables, nuts and grapes are grown. Bathed in sunshine and growing in fertile soils, Central Valley spreads 400 miles from Sacramento to Fresno. Because of its heat, the region produces abundant Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, which soak up the sun and transform it into dense, deeply colored wine. In the region's cooler AVAs—those that lie around the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, such as Lodi—higher acid grapes like Chenin Blanc, Colombard, Barbera and Chardonnay grow with great success.
