2019 Pays d'Oc Grenache Blanc

The Chanmé Méchant 2019 Grenache Blanc from Pays d'Oc IGP, France, is a delightful white wine that exudes a light and refreshing character. The Grenache Blanc varietal brings a balanced acidity that enhances the fruit-forward nature of the wine. You'll notice a moderate fruit intensity that adds a flavorful dimension to each sip. This Grenache Blanc is crafted in a style that offers a pleasant crispness without being overly dry, making it a perfect choice for those seeking a harmonious and easy-to-enjoy white wine experience.

Tasting notes:

"Imagine a sugarless honeydew melon, and you'll have a great idea what this bottle has to offer...delicate on the nose, with soft melon and floral aromas. The palate is equally soft, but the flavor comes on brightly, with little or no new oak." – Rich Cook, 2021 Winemaker Challenge.

Region:

Languedoc-Roussillon
Languedoc-Roussillon

France's oldest and largest winemaking region, the Languedoc-Roussillon stretches around the sun-kissed Mediterranean from Roussillon to Provence. Taking in everything from rugged mountain slopes to breezy coastline, this vast region features various climates and terroirs. Outside of its famous AOCs like Minervois, Corbières and Saint-Chinian, many Languedoc wines are made in the less restrictive IGP classification, in particular the Pays d'Oc. There are many wine styles made in Languedoc, but full-bodied reds blending Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Mourvèdre and Cinsault are the most common. For summer drinking, look to its fruity rosé, rounded Chardonnay and zingy Picpoul. You will often find grape varieties stated on the label of Languedoc's IGP wines, an uncommon practice in much of France.
