Cantine Di Terravecchia

2013 Puglia Negroamaro

The Pampana Cantine Di Terravecchia, a delightful 2013 vintage, showcases the remarkable characteristics of its varietal, Negroamaro, originating from the sun-kissed region of Puglia. This red wine presents a deep crimson hue, inviting with its sumptuous aromas of dark fruit, including luscious black cherries and ripe plums, complemented by hints of warm spice and earthy undertones. On the palate, it strikes a remarkable balance, exhibiting medium body and elevated acidity that brings a refreshing quality to the experience. The tannins are beautifully structured, offering a soft yet firm texture that enhances the wine's overall complexity. With a well-integrated dryness, this Negroamaro reveals its food-friendly nature, making it an excellent pairing for hearty Italian dishes, grilled meats, or a rustic cheese board. The Pampana Cantine Di Terravecchia is truly a captivating expression of Puglia's winemaking tradition.

Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
