Canonico

2010 Salento Negroamaro

Cantine Due Palme Canonico is a remarkable expression of Negroamaro from the captivating Salento region. This enticing red wine exhibits a deep, rich color that draws you in from the first glance. With a full-bodied character, it presents a beautifully balanced structure complemented by its high acidity, lending a refreshing lift to the palate. The fruit intensity is prominent, showcasing luscious notes of dark cherry, ripe plum, and hints of blackcurrant, which intertwine seamlessly with subtle undertones of spice and earthiness. The tannins are firm and well-integrated, providing a delightful backbone that enhances the wine's aging potential. This vintage is classified as dry, making it an ideal companion for a variety of dishes, from hearty pastas to roasted meats, bringing out the best in both the wine and the meal. Whether enjoyed now or allowed to mature further, Cantine Due Palme Canonico is a true testament to the artistry of Italian winemaking.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
