Briaco

2008 Salento Primitivo

The Roca Dei Mori Briaco, a distinguished Primitivo from the Salento region, showcases an enticing deep red hue that hints at its rich character. This full-bodied wine boasts a high acidity, creating a bright and mouthwatering experience that perfectly balances its boldness. The fruit intensity is remarkably prominent, offering a delightful medley of ripe blackberries and plums, intertwined with subtle notes of spice and earthiness. Tannins are notable, adding structure and depth to each sip while allowing the wine's complexity to unfold gracefully. As a dry wine, it exemplifies precision and craftsmanship, making it an excellent choice for pairing with hearty dishes or savoring on its own. This vintage of 2008 reflects the essence of Salento's terroir, delivering a memorable tasting experience.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
