Briaco

2006 Salento Primitivo

Rocca Dei Mori Briaco, a splendid expression of Primitivo from the renowned Salento region, showcases a deep, alluring red color that hints at its complexity. This 2006 vintage offers a medium-bodied experience, presenting a harmonious balance of acidity that is bright and lively, complemented by medium tannins that provide structure without overpowering the palate. The fruit intensity is prominent, revealing luscious notes of ripe blackberries and dark cherries intertwined with subtle hints of spice. As a dry wine, it remains refreshing while delivering a rich flavor profile that captures the essence of its terroir, making it a delightful choice for any occasion.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
