Bevete Salento Rosso

2009 Salento Negroamaro, Zinfandel

The Mescula Bevete Salento Rosso from the 2009 vintage is a captivating red wine that showcases the alluring characteristics of its varietals, predominantly Negroamaro and Zinfandel. Hailing from the sun-drenched Salento region, this wine boasts a full-bodied structure and presents a delightful balance of bright acidity. The fruit intensity is pronounced, with bold notes of dark berries and ripe cherries, enhanced by subtle hints of spice and earthiness. The tannins are notable yet beautifully integrated, contributing to a smooth mouthfeel that invites savoring with each sip. Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
