Armecolo

2012 Salento Negroamaro

The Castel Di Salve Armecolo, a splendid 2012 vintage from the sun-drenched region of Salento, showcases the richness of the Negroamaro varietal. This captivating red exhibits a deep crimson hue, hinting at its bold character. On the palate, it presents a medium-bodied profile with vibrant acidity that brings a lively freshness to the experience. The fruit intensity is prominent, offering lush flavors of dark berries and ripe cherries, complemented by subtle earthy undertones. The tannins are structured yet soft, providing a pleasant mouthfeel that balances the wine's slight dryness. This delightful blend is perfect for pairing with hearty Italian dishes, making it a wonderful choice for any occasion.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
