Ambasciatore Dei Colli

2006 Puglia 50% Aglianico 50% Cabernet Sauvignon

Colli Della Murgia Ambasciatore Dei Colli is a remarkable blend originating from the sun-kissed region of Puglia, combining equal parts Aglianico and Cabernet Sauvignon. This inviting red wine presents a deep, ruby hue, hinting at its rich character. On the palate, it showcases a full-bodied experience, balanced by a fresh acidity that invigorates each sip. The fruit intensity shines brightly, offering pronounced notes of black cherry and dark plum, seamlessly integrated with hints of tobacco and spice. Tannins are firm yet approachable, providing a structured backbone that supports the wine's complexity. As a dry wine, it possesses an elegance that makes it a delightful pairing for hearty dishes or enjoyed on its own as a testament to its impressive vintage.

Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
