2007 Puglia Falanghina

Cantine Teanum Alta's 2007 Falanghina from the Puglia region is a delightful expression of this renowned varietal. This white wine showcases a light to medium body, offering an elegant balance between freshness and richness. Its refreshing acidity adds a vibrant character, making it incredibly approachable and versatile for food pairings. The fruit intensity is prominent, with delightful notes of ripe citrus and stone fruits that dance on the palate, creating a mouthwatering experience. The wine is bone dry, allowing the pure fruit flavors to shine through without any lingering sweetness. This Falanghina is a wonderful representation of Puglia’s viticultural heritage, perfect for enjoying on a sunny day or paired with seafood dishes.

Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
