Aglianico

Puglia Aglianico

L'archetipo Aglianico is a captivating red wine hailing from the sun-soaked region of Puglia, where the warmth of the Mediterranean climate nurtures the lush vineyards. This wine exhibits a medium body that beautifully balances its robust structure with an inviting smoothness. Its acidity is vibrant, adding a refreshing lift that harmonizes perfectly with its bold flavor profile. The fruit intensity is prominent, with luscious dark fruit notes of ripe blackberries and plums taking center stage, complemented by subtle hints of spices and earth. Tannins are notable yet well-integrated, providing a pleasing grip that enhances the wine's depth and complexity. This Aglianico is dry, allowing the full expression of its character to shine through, making it an exceptional choice for pairing with hearty dishes or enjoyed on its own.

Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
