2011 Puglia Chardonnay

The Tenute Rasciatano According White Wine from the 2011 vintage is a delightful expression of Chardonnay hailing from the sun-kissed region of Puglia. This wine showcases a bright and inviting white color, exemplifying its refreshing character. With a medium body, this Chardonnay strikes a perfect balance, offering a luscious mouthfeel that is both satisfying and approachable. The acidity is high, contributing to its vibrant and lively profile, making it an excellent choice for warm-weather sipping. The fruit intensity is prominent, with notes of ripe stone fruit and citrus that dance on the palate, further enhanced by subtle hints of vanilla. This wine's dryness, classified as dry, makes it a versatile companion for various dishes, whether enjoyed with seafood, poultry, or light pasta dishes. Overall, the Tenute Rasciatano According White Wine is an elegant and food-friendly option that embodies the essence of Puglia’s terroir.

Region:

Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
