2015 Monterey County Pinot Noir

The Carmel Road Pinot Noir from the illustrious 2015 vintage is a delightful expression of the Monterey County region, known for its remarkable terroir that nurtures Pinot Noir's delicate nature. This red wine showcases a light to medium body, making it an elegant choice for a variety of occasions. Its acidity is bright and refreshing, providing a lively contrast to the wine's fruit-forward character, which features prominent notes of ripe cherry and subtle hints of earthiness. With its finely balanced tannins, this Pinot Noir offers a smooth and approachable mouthfeel, ensuring it can be enjoyed now or gracefully aged for further complexity. As a dry wine, it embraces the beautiful characteristics of its varietal, making it ideal for pairing with roasted poultry or a delectable mushroom risotto.

Monterey County

Not to be confused with Monterey AVA, Monterey County is a larger designation that also includes the Carmel and San Antonio valleys, among others. Encompassing three distinct zones at the northern end of the Central Coast, Monterey County produces vast amounts of high-quality Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Gris. For reds, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon have often been replaced by Pinot Noir, Syrah and Grenache in recent years. These cooler-climate grapes achieve greatness through the influence of Monterey Bay, which pushes cold fogs and chilly afternoon winds down the Salinas Valley, tempering the sun's heat and allowing a long, moderate ripening season.
