What is Château Léoville Barton?
Château Léoville Barton is a wine estate defined by traditional vineyard and cellar practices across about 50 hectares. The vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and a small portion of Cabernet Franc.
Grapes are hand-picked and fermented in wooden vats, with the grand vin, Château Léoville Barton, aged around 16–18 months in French oak, roughly 60% new, to shape its structure and detail.
A second wine, La Réserve de Léoville Barton, is drawn from younger vines or lots not chosen for the grand vin, offering an alternate expression of the estate’s character. This focused approach—from careful selection to élevage—aims to capture vineyard identity while maintaining a clear, cohesive profile.
